Should I Update My License for this Release?

No - It's not necessary, but strongly recommended

Each time DownStream creates a major or minor release, an encrypted database of customer license files for all eligible users is added to the installation. The default DownStream product license expiration period is 18 months from the date of issuance. The new licenses on the install have an expiration date 18 months from the most recent maintenance contract renewal. In some cases, the license on the install may have a later expiration date than your current license.

When installing this release, it is strongly recommended you install your license prior to installing the software to minimize the risk of license expiration. To do this, on invocation of the installation, choose the Install or Update Licensing option and proceed through the prompts to modify the licensing. When prompted for the source of the license, choose Install license file from Media. Complete the license install and license checkout test. When the license install is completed, you are prompted to install the software. Proceed with installing the software.

DeskProto V 7.0: Free CAM software download.

All four editions of DeskProto V7 (Free, Entry, Expert and Multi-Axis) share the same Setup file, that you can download here. After downloading and installing DeskProto 7 you can use the Free edition as long as you like, without any payment. The three extended editions can be used in Trial mode, these editions will be unlocked after buying a license.

You can install DeskProto V7 as follows:
- Windows : Start the Setup.exe file and then following the Setup wizard.
- MacOS : Mount the DMG file and drag DeskProto to your Applications folder.
- Linux : In the Properties of the AppImage file check 'Allow executing the file as a program'.
All four DeskProto editions (Free, Entry, Expert and Multi-Axis) share the same easy-to-use interface. All editions can read each other's project files, so after upgrading (for instance) from the Entry Edition to the Expert Edition all projects created with Entry still can be opened. Of course we offer a special price when upgrading to a higher edition.
DeskProto V7 can be installed and used on the same PC as a DeskProto V6: both versions will function completely independent of each other. If DeskProto V7 is already present then again running the Setup will over-write any changes that you made in the standard cutters, machines and postprocessors.

Uninstall

Uninstalling the DeskProto software is easy:
- click the Windows Start button, select 'All Programs', open the folder 'DeskProto 7.0' and click 'DeskProto 7.0 uninstall'.
In case this does not work you can also uninstall as follows:
- click the Windows Start button, select 'Control Panel', 'Programs', 'Uninstall a program'. Now click on line 'DeskProto 7.0' and then press button Uninstall.

DeskProto V 6.1: Trial version download.

The DeskProto V6.1 Setup remains available for clients with an old license who want to reinstall their V6.1 software.
Without a license DeskProto V6.1 is a time-limited trial version (in contrast to the DeskProto V7.0 download). The trial period is limited to a maximum of 30 days after setup. It is a completely functional trial version: no limitations in functionality. You can load geometry files from your own 3D CAD system, calculate toolpaths and output NC program files suitable for your CNC milling machine. You can even configure a new postprocessor in case you have a machine that is not present in the list of standard machines.
All three editions of DeskProto V6.1 (Entry, Expert and Multi-Axis) are included in this trial version: at each program start you can choose which edition you want to evaluate.
Licensed users of DeskProto V6.1 can install a fresh trial to update their existing version. Important is that this will over-write any changes that you made in the standard cutters, machines and postprocessors.
Once the trial period of DeskProto V6.1 has expired it will no longer be possible to save the calculated toolpaths in an NC program file. All other functions will remain available.
Do not tamper with your system date as this may shorten your trial period.

DeskProto V 6.0

Downloading DeskProto V6.0 is no longer possible. It is not needed either: the unlocking code on a license for Version 6.0 is also valid for Version 6.1, so please use V6.1 instead.
